January 2019 Winter Holiday Program (January 2, 3, 4)

Here’s more information about the great Wednesday to Friday program we have planned. 

(Please remember to pack a nut free lunch.)

Main Hours: 9am – 4pm
Extended Program (included in fee):
7am – 9am, 4pm-6pm

Extended hours (and healthy snacks) are ALWAYS included in your original program fee.

Entrances: When dropping off your children, enter through the main building door closest to the JK/SK Pen.

For pick up, enter THROUGH the JK/SK Pen. The doors you entered for the morning drop off will be locked. Please do not use the school’s main entrance. Children may not be dropped off for entrance on their own.

Check-in / check-out: All children must be checked in and out by their parent/guardian or a pre-authorized caregiver (recorded in your registration or given to our administration in advance in writing). All caregivers picking up will be asked to show us picture ID to confirm identity.

Parking: Please use one of the school’s parking spaces or street parking if it is allowed. Do not park, stop or idle beside the school or KG Pen entrance or in the bus / fire lanes as this is not permitted and creates a safety concern.

Running late or absent?
If you are going to be later than 9am or absent, call 905-902-1261
(NO EMAILS PLEASE). We start call families at 9:30am for any child absent without notice, as per our safe arrival policy.

Programming

Wednesday, January 2nd: Flannels & Lumberjacks
Pull on those warm checkered flannels and grab some hammers and nails! Let’s construct and build together. Today your children will get a feel for working with wood, building and designing. Today’s activities will include creating winter signs with stencils, snowflake pencil holder construction and coloring, snowman stuffed toys and transport bridge building. Learn about how to safely engage in wood working as a tool not a toy and get a handle on how to sand and create your own designs.

Thursday, January 3rd: Maple Mania
How do you eat your maple syrup? Take your taste buds for a sweet ride with delectable treats and creations. Today’s maple mania theme will allow your children to explore maple syrup in all its forms and produce treats and beautiful wreaths for your home! Today’s activities will include, maple leaf wreath building, marvelous maple fudge, where’s the maple leaf games, and frozen maple sugar sticks. Your children will take part in baking, crafting and outdoor exploring.

Friday, January 4th: Winter Around the World
Let’s take a trip around the world! Pack your suitcases and grab your passport, the plane leaves at 9am. On the way we will visit and learn different sports from California, Brazil and of course, Canada. Dress your kids up in their favorite country’s sports jerseys and be sure to dress warm for some outdoor games. Today’s activities include Canadian tabletop hockey, a California snow ball fight, Brazilian outdoor soccer and capture the world flag. Your children will take part in a variety of sports from all around the world both inside the classroom and in the great outdoors!

This main program starts at 9am and ends at 4pm. Morning extended care begins at 7am and includes a continental snack. Afternoon extended care is from 4-6pm and includes a snack for your children. *Extended care is already included in your daily fee.


Reminders

BRING A LUNCH.

Be sure to pack your children with a lunch (it must be peanut, tree nut, and sesame free), and two small extra snacks for nibbling mid-day, water bottle, comfortable indoor running shoes, spare clothes, and outer clothes appropriate for the weather.


Changes & Cancellations

Program changes and cancellations due to unforseen circumstances are posted on our web site’s home page, and on our Twitter feed: @CampWaterdown

  • No refund of paid fees or deposits are given for registrant changes and cancellations within 15 days of Program Day start.
  • Cancellations due to serious medical reason (requiring hospitalization or affecting ambulatory mobility) are subject to the Executive Director’s discretion. If granted, will receive a pro-rated refund for full day(s) to be missed (after notification) less a $35 administration fee. An original and verifiable doctor’s letter will be required for notification.
  • Refunds are not given for absence due to any communicable illnesses or parasites (cold, flu, chicken pox, mumps, lice, etc.), elective or scheduled medical/dental reasons.
  • Credits or refunds can not be given for late arrival, early departure, illness, absences, dismissal, or program / facility closures due to emergency, weather or any other unforeseen circumstances.

The financial obligations of Camp Waterdown (a registered charitable not-for-profit organization) are fixed for each program based on the number of pre-registered campers . The withdrawal of a camper does not lessen our operating expenses.
