Welcome back my fellow sous chefs!!!

Today things are going to get a little fishy. We’re going to whip up a creamy tuna pasta salad (please have mom or dad help you cook the pasta night before so its ready!) If you do not like tuna, feel free to use whatever protein you may have had from the night before or veggies to substitute.

Let’s also make some kid friendly easy lettuce wraps for lunch! Parents, please help your children by chopping up or shredding some vegetables ahead of time (they keep in a baggie with water over night). A grater works terrific for both the cheese and carrots.

Easy Creamy Tuna Salad

Ingredients:

  • Elbow pasta – rotini pasta is also a great choice! (We suggest cooking this the night before and refrigerating it (as we will, even though we will demonstrate cooking it).
  • Albacore tuna fish in water
  • 1 -2 cups of mayonnaise*. We don’t use a lot of mayonnaise just enough so that the pasta salad has flavor and is no longer dry. You can also use greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • 1/2 diced white onion or scallions
  • 1 cup of diced celery
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  • Cook pasta according to instructions on the package.
  • Drain tuna fish
  • Dice onion and celery
  • Add mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix all together and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

*Don’t forget that real mayonnaise contains eggs and it and cooked tuna should not be left out at room temperature!

Easy Kid-Friendly Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients:

  • Boston lettuce/ romaine/ leaf lettuce- washed
  • Vegetables of your liking- sliced into matchsticks  (avocado and celery slice easily and carrots can be grated)
  • Shredded cheese
  • Favourite lunch meat, bean salad, cold, pre-cooked instant noodles, or even a little Tuna Salad! (optional)
  • Condiments: mayo, mustard, ranch, ceasar, french, italian, thousand islands or any dressing (pretty much whatever sauce you like)

Method:

  • Rinse your lettuce leaves, lay them out on paper towel and pat dry
  • Arrange by putting lunch meat first, then vegetables
  • Add cheese and condiments (a little dab will do ya!)
  • Hold like a taco and Voila!

Hints for Joining

A password is embedded in each Zoom Link so that joining in is automatic (but included for backup and “phone-in” callers).

Each session has it’s own Zoom Link so you must use the appropriate link for the time and session you want to join.

  • Once you click a Zoom Link (above or below), it will normally open your web browser and then you will be asked to install a Zoom App if you don’t already have it. It is safe to do so, but you may also be presented an optional link to join us through a web browser instead.
  • We will open the entrance to each session about 5 – 10 minutes before beginning.  Before that time you may get a message saying that the Host hasn’t started the “Meeting” yet. If you want to leave and come back, or loose connection, it is no problem – just use the same link to rejoin.
  • You will start with your microphone feed “Muted” (turned off) as these are one-to-many presentations (and you will only hear our presenter). We will turn on mics for an open discussion or to connect with individual children at the end of a presentation if we have time.
  • You should start with the “Speaker View” by default which will show our presenter large on your screen and other participants in smaller scrolling screens. (You can usually toggle between them by clicking at the top right of your screen.)
  • For privacy you can optionally turn off your Camera and still participate, however all participants can initially see each other.
  • You can change your name shown by clicking on it.
  • You may need to temporarily adjust your speaker volume.

Most importantly, join us and have FUN!
