City Wide Child Care Professional Development Day, October 17
IMPORTANT: There will be a full facility closure (ELCC & B&A programs) on Friday October 17.
On Friday October 17th, while schools remain open, our ELCC (full day) and Before & After School programs will be closed so that our staff can participate in a City of Hamilton sponsored Professional Development opportunity for our educators.
As in the past, the City has kindly decided to offer compensation for our families for this closure and so you will receive a credit for the October 17th closure on your October or November billing. Please ensure that you have arranged alternative care or school pick-ups & drop offs for that day well in advance as we offer no alternative programs. This day is an important opportunity for our team to enhance their skills, learn new strategies, and focus on professional growth to better serve our families and children.
School PA Days Program Closures
We have made the difficult decision not to provide a full day program for Kindergarten & School-agers for this school year’s HWDSB scheduled PA Days (Sep 19, Oct 24, Nov 21, Jan 23, Mar 6, Jun 5, Jun 26). Please ensure that you have arranged alternative care those days. Our ELCC (toddler & preschool) program remains open those days.
Christmas / Winter Break Program Closure
Also, a reminder that this coming winter our Board of Directors has decided to again close our Early Learning and Childcare program (ELCC), and we will not be offering a Winter Break School Holiday Program this year (for the two weeks that schools are closed). All programs will be closed entirely from Monday December 22, 2025 to Friday January 2, 2026, inclusive. We will reopen our ELCC (day care) and Before and After School programs on Monday, January 5, 2025. Please note, fees for our ELCC and B&A families are not discounted for this closure.
The days we are closed (for all our programs) up to Summer 2026 are:

- Thanksgiving Day: October 13, 2025
- City Wide Child Care Educator Professional Development Day: October 17, 2025
- Christmas / Winter Break: December 22, 2025 – January 2, 2026 inclusive
- Family Day: February 16, 2026
- Good Friday: April 3, 2026
- Easter Monday: April 6, 2026

- Victoria Day: May 18, 2026
- Canada Day: July 1, 2026
- Civic Holiday: August 3, 2026
- Labour Day: September 7, 2026
