School Age Programs

Waterdown Before and After School Care

We’re a Ministry of Education licensed and inspected child care provider and approved in-school extended day program provider for the Hamilton Wentworth School District School Board offering programs at Allan A. Greenleaf Elementary (@ WDHS), Guy B. Brown Elementary, Mary Hopkins Elementary, and Flamborough Centre Elementary.

Our before and after school care programs are modified by involving the children in planning / subject interest choices and facilitated / supervised by trained ECE educators. Students have a voice in the activities they wish to engage and projects they want to do. Our child emergent program gives students a chance to be heard and expand on their interest by the help of our trained and qualified staff. Not only is our program engaging, it provides both indoor and outdoor physical activity, and a chance to unwind after a long day of learning. We also can provide a modified program for children with special needs (please consult with us in advance to ensure the program will be right for your child’s particular needs).

Come and let your child’s imagination and abilities bloom in our program.

UPCOMING School Year: SEPTEMBER 2026 – JUNE 2027 Before / After School Program

Currently Attending (B&A and ELCC Preschool) or other families who already have Parent and Child Records created may start from your Family Registration Page or from here: Before / After School Age Care Registration (2026-2027)

Wait List pre-registration window for ALL FAMILIES is now open until May 15th.

We will not start offering new families space until after May 15th.

We do not anticipate a “reduction” of available space at each of our schools, and we will also again be reviewing the viability for an Afternoon Program at Flamborough Centre Elementary from registrations.

New “Lottery” System for pre-registration windows

Offers of space will be made using an internal random selection system for each level of priority (explained below), along with some other typical prioritiztions (Parent Handbook) we make within each level, for these two early registration windows.  (No need to stay up late to make an early registration!)

Because of the random selection system, you can register any time during these windows with NO ADVANTAGE for being first to register as we won’t take time and date of registration into account unless registering after those windows. Registrations made during this period will have an equal chance of obtaining a space (within each Priority Level below).

Being Wait Listed does not necessarily mean that we have run out of space.  We will confirm the status of all Level 1 -6 (pre-registering by May 1st) before May 15th if we can, and notify other registrants of their status starting after May 15th.

After May 15th, we will continue to assign existing registrations based on priority level and random selection until space runs out in our programs (or if new spaces open).  If we should continue to have space to offer, after reviewing all pre-May 16th registrations, remaining spaces will be assigned to registrants pre-registering after May 15th based on priority and time of registration.  This is so that registrants after May 15th can’t accidentally be offered a space ahead of those that registered prior.

Priority Levels (during the pre-registration window periods)

  1. current attendees
(maintaining their space through June 2026 who register for the same session(s) and school),
  2. new siblings of (1) at same school with same schedule.
If this is a new sibling of current attendees who will withdraw prior to June 2026, or with different schedules, then they will have the same priority as children changing schools (5),
  3. currently attending children (and their new siblings) making schedule changes (changed or added sessions),
  4. new graduates from our ELCC Preschool program,
  5. currently attending children changing schools (at time of pre-registration), and new siblings of non-returning attendees,
  6. children who were wait listed for space during the 2025-2026 school year,
  7. new children joining (or rejoining after an absence) the program without alternative priorities,
  8. any child registering for a start date later than the second week of September.

There are special over-riding priorities offered to children of our Staff, area educators, children requiring in-school care, etc. that may take precidence. Please read the Parent Handbook to review these additional priority policies.

Registering for our B&A Wait List will NOT automatically put you on the wait list for the following school year, all children must re-register each year.

As there has been limited space available in child care programs since COVID, due to a number of reasons, we DO advise ALL families to review all alternative options for care, as we have been unable to accommodate all who apply.

More information will be posted on the Before & After School Registration page.

Currently there is no agreement in place with the City of Hamilton to provide an Affordability plan for School Age Before & After School Care (Expires June 2026).  Market rates are shown in green above.

Current daily rates are for ALL families without an individual family Subsidy Approval.

  • Monthly rates are based on Daily Rate for 196 days (187 Instructional Days + 9 Statutory Holidays) and amortized over 10 months (September to June)
  • We do not charge for PA Days or School Holidays (other than statutory holidays) and any care programs during those days is an additional charge at the full daily rate shown below.
  • We anticipate two Child Care Professional Development Days during the school year (TBC) organized by the City of Hamilton during which all of our programs are closed so that our staff may attend.  If the City of Hamilton compensates us for those days (as they have in the past), then we pass the credit to currently enrolled families.
  • Grade 1 children who have not yet reached their 6th birthday are normally given the CWELLC program rate until the month of their 6th birth date, however we extend the lower rate with City Grant applied.
  • We are not offering part-time schedules or Single Extra Days care at this time.
  • All B&A fees are paid by Pre-Authorized Debit. (Any special authorization for alternative payment is subject to a $10 per payment administrative fee.)
  • Insufficient funds are subject to a $50 administrative fee per occurrence.

School Age Program Subsidies

The City of Hamilton provides Subsidies for families that meet qualifications for financial assistance.  We can provide you with more information by calling Shelley Bradaric at 905-689-5342, or visit the City of Hamilton web site for more information.

School Holiday Care

We provide an exemplary theme-based School Holiday Camp Program for school age children of JK / SK age and Grades 1 – 8 (to age 12). All our programs involve an educational goal, with fun activities, crafts plus outdoor activities. School Holiday care is not included in our Before & After School care packages.  We are unable to offer Full Day Care for School PA Days and the Winter Holiday Break during the 2026 – 2027 school year (parents will be notified if this changes).

March Break and Summer Theme Camp Programs

UPDATE for 2026-2027

We review applications regularly and will get back to you as soon as possible only if we have a vacancy for your prospective start date. Currently registered and attending children (and their new siblings) are given priority for registration while we still have room left.

  • Space (while it exists) is prioritized by a list of criteria:
    • WDCC Staff requiring care to work in our program,
    • Children who have been registered through to June of the prior school year attending the same location and for the same schedule,
    • New siblings of children who have been registered through to June of the prior year attending the same school as their sibling,
    • Children who have been registered and are moving from one of our programs or locations to another (if space exists). This would be children graduating from our WDCC preschool program, children registered through to June of the prior school year who are changing schools, and siblings who want to register at different locations.
    • Local school staff or community liaisons / support workers
    • Local community families with a demonstrated need for child care
  • We currently only offer 5 day a week schedules, Mornings OR Afternoons & Mornings AND Afternoons.
  • We only offer care to children who are under 13 years of age at September 4, 2026 and until the month of their 13th birthday during the school year (special consideration is given under some circumstances).
  • Our standard Market Rates for Kindergarten Age (under 6 years), not shown here, are subsidized by CWELCC .
  • Before and After School Fees do not include participation in PA Day or other School Holiday programs, and no discount is given for months with fewer school days as this is already built into the monthly fee.
  • First month fee deposits are required upon registration from all registrants (via Pre-Authorized Debit) to confirm your space, and are non-refundable.
  • Currently participating families who are already Pre-Authorized for Debit will pay a September deposit by PAD, on July 1st 2026, but it will be refundable up to July 31, 2026. All other registrants will be sent payment method information (PAD only) and a deposit will be required upon registration to maintain your space in the program.
  • Families are required to maintain their original registered sessions through to end of October (with notice to change required to be given before end of September).
  • Families who are not in attendance continuously for a 2-week period will be contacted to determine if the space is actually required since space can not be held unused and is prioritized to families on our Wait List who require care. Children who only attend one of two sessions regularly may lose their space to a child require both sessions on our Wait List (i.e. we discourage families for paying for care they don’t need, and must prioritize care to those families requiring both Before and After school care). We reserve the right to terminate care for lack of attendance.
  • If you register for our Wait List with a start date in the future, after September 8th, and if we are able to offer a space and it is not accepted, your registration will be cancelled so that you can re-register when you do require immediate placement (which may also lower your position on the Wait List).
  • Children must be re-registered each year, and for each school holiday program separately. There are no automatic re-enrolments. Although we provide a registration window exclusively for and prioritize placement for past families, no guarantee of space is provided.

These policies are necessary to strengthen our program in a changing economy, lessen administration costs, and be able to offer our families and children the very best and most consistent care and education program.

Next Steps

We review registrations regularly and will get back to you by email ONLY if we are able to confirm an availability. The Wait List is “no obligation” until an offer is made and a deposit paid to accept.  We are not able to inform parents more than once of their position on our Wait Lists as too many factors make prediction of future placement extremely arbitrary.

Changes & Withdrawals

Children may not currently reduce their care to part-time, we only offer a 5-Day schedule.

We do not offer changes in schedule without adequate notification. We require notification of changes or withdrawals to be made a minimum of one full calendar month in advance of the month of the change. e.g. for a change or withdrawal for November, notice would need to be given before the end of September. We do not normally offer a reduction of schedule after payment of deposit and prior to school start.  Withdrawals and changes can not occur mid-month, only whole month billing is accommodated.  Accommodations to this policy can only be made at our discretion and if we are able to fill a space with a shorter notification period.  In all cases a $50 administration fee will be applied for any reduction in schedule.

If you would like more information about registering your child for any of these programs please email info@campwaterdown.com (we do not, however take wait list requests other than by the registration form).
